Softball Concludes Time at Space Coast Spring Games
VIERA, Fla. – Thomas Jefferson University softball (1-11) finish their time at the Space Coast Spring Games on Tuesday. They competed against the University of Minnesota Crookston (7-12) and D'Youville University (4-2) on Tuesday.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 5-2 VS MINNESOTA CROOKSTON
- First three innings did not see a score from either team, with the Golden Eagles getting as close as to third base in the third inning
- Minnesota Crookston got on the board first as a single to right center made it 1-0 over Jefferson
- The Rams responded in the third as Claudia Alldred hit a triple to get a runner to homeplate as the game was even. Alldred eventually made it to homeplate by was of a Remy Smith double as Jefferson went ahead 2-1 in the top of the sixth
- The Golden Eagles got back ahead in the sixth with a one-run single to second base, two-run triple to right center, and a run off a fielder's choice as Minnesota Crookston got up by three runs heading to the top of the seventh
- Liv Stevens got a double to get a Ram on base, but a strike out swinging ended the morning game for Jefferson
- Delaney Alix pitched the first 3.1 innings, giving up two hits and one earned run while striking out four batters. Stevens came in to pitch the next 2.2 innings, with four hits and four earned runs on her time on the mound with one strikeout

GAME TWO: L, 12-10 VS D'YOUVILLE
- The Saints got two runs, one in the first two innings, as a sacrifice flyout in the first and grounded out in the second made it 2-0 for D'Youville
- Jefferson put up six runs in the bottom of the second, their highest scoring inning on the season. A walk on Becca Shuler made it 2-1 for the Rams. Stevens triple added three more runs in the same inning. She made it to homeplate from a sacrifice flyout to center field had it at 5-2. Smith's single to center field allowed Lily Hutt to homeplate as the game made it 6-2
- D'Youville responded with eight runs in the top of the third off a one-run double, one-run single, one-run single, a walk with the bases loaded, a fielder's choice throwing error, a wild pitch, another throwing error, and a single to shortstop as it became a 10-6 game
- The Saints added a run in the fourth from a center field error, going to 11-6. Smith responded with a one-run triple and got her own score from Madeline Holmes single to left field, with the Rams down by three scores
- After D'Youville made it 12-8 off a wild pitch in the sixth, Jefferson got two outs from their first two batters. A walk and an error got to runners on base. Tori Lipka single to right field added one run on the board. Alldred replicated her teammates at-bat as she went to the same area and got another runner to homeplate. The tying run being on first, Jefferson looked to tie it up. A strikeout ended the Rams late rally as they dropped 12-10 to D'Youville
- Hutt struck out one batter while Alix and Brandley had two apiece. Alix, Holmes, and Brandley all pitched on the mound with Hutt starting in the game
