Women's Lacrosse Opens Season with Nailbiter Against Molloy
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Having a three-goal lead slip away with the Lions tying it at 11-11 with 5:34 to go, Thomas Jefferson University (1-0) put two goals in the final three minutes and held onto a 13-11 non-conference victory to open their season against Molloy University (0-3) in Wednesday evening action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The opening quarter saw both teams score with ease. The Rams added five goals in the first 15 minutes while the Lions put up four. The second saw the defenses begin to establish themselves, only allowing five goals between the teams
- Molloy earned the advantage with a 3-2 differential to make it 7-7 at the break
- After trading goals between each other, Jefferson added another one with 3:23 to go to have it 9-8 heading into the final quarter
- The Rams put two Emma Baker goals that looked to ice the game, but Molloy fought back as they had three shots go into the next within a three-minute span to tie it at 11-11
- Iris Gluck nailed her shot with 3:15 left in the game. Chole Naylor put the finishing touches as she had her man-up goal to seal the 13-11 win in favor of Jefferson
