Women's Soccer Uses Three First Half Goals to Lift Rams over Dominican
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (5-0, 2-0) headed up to New York to face off against Dominican University of New York (3-3, 1-1) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this Saturday afternoon. The Rams used three first half goals to earn a 4-0 win over the Chargers.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Nikki Dedes began the first half scoring as she earned her goal three minutes into the contest, taking a Chargers pass and making her shot at the back of the net
- Dedes added another score on the board for Jefferson at the 18:14 mark as Kyra Lesko delivered a pass to her, giving Dedes a chance to shoot. She slid her shot between the goalkeeper and defender to get the ball in the net
- Three minutes later, Mia Ferrara used a free kick to hit her shot at the top part of the goal, scoring in the 22nd minute
- Jefferson held their lead to the break as they were up 3-0
- The Rams took the second half to put pressure on offense, taking 14 shots during that time
- Izzy Alexandre got her shot in the 75th minute, adding to Jefferson's lead as they won the contest 4-0 over Dominican
- Liv Riddel had two saves on the day, both in the first half. She also recorded her fifth shutout of the season, tying her for the lead in Division II
- The Rams have had five consecutive shutouts, the first time they've achieved that since 2019.
- Jefferson has a 12 game-unbeaten conference streak, going back to the 2023 season. They also have seven straight conference wins in a row since October 13, 2023.
