Women's Soccer Opens CACC Action with Win Over Georgian Court
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (4-0, 1-0) competed in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Tuesday when they hosted Georgian Court University (3-2, 0-1) at Ravenhill Field. The Rams were able to defeat the Lions 1-0 in the conference matchup.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson held their defense strong, allowing three shots through the first half
- The Lions were able to keep the Rams attack down as well, allowing 10 shots in the beginning period
- After multiple shots went to the way side and another attempted was blocked, Abby Cargile hit the ball down left to the corner that was just out of the Lions reach, giving Jefferson the 1-0 lead before the break
- The second half appeared to be a defensive battle, with neither team giving an inch on the other side of the ball
- The Rams took 12 shots in the second half while Georgian Court managed to attempt seven at the net
- The Lions were able to get down the field, but Jefferson's defense kept appearing as they took the ball near the end and held onto the 1-0 win
- Emma Bennett made six saves on the day while Liv Riddel recorded five. Riddel and the Rams record their fourth straight shutout of the season
