Women's Lacrosse Falls to Bloomsburg on Senior Day
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (7-7) finished their regular season with a non-conference matchup on Senior Day. The Rams held a 7-6 halftime lead, but ultimately couldn't keep the Huskies down as Jefferson fell to Bloomsburg University (9-6) 14-11 in Saturday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
Jefferson had early momentum, scoring three straight goals by Lynn Hardy, Audrey Strock, and Carina Raymond that forced the Huskies to call a timeout. Bloomsburg scored two goals in the first quarter, trailing Jefferson 3-2 as they headed into the second.
Bloomsburg put up two more goals to go ahead 4-3 over the Rams. Each team would begin to trade goals, with Jefferson seeing Erin Avanzato and Raymond find their shots in the back of the net. E. Avanzato had two more goals at the end of the second to get the Rams a 7-6 lead heading into the break.
The Huskies scored early in the third to tie the game, but L. Hardy and Iris Gluck made a goal apiece to make the game two scores in favor of Jefferson. Bloomsburg put up three goals in the last 5:41 of the quarter, putting them ahead 11-10. The Rams' responded in the fourth with a score from Audrey Strock and Raymond, but Bloomsburg had four in the final quarter, the last three goals as well, to end the game with a 14-11 win over Jefferson.
