CALDWELL, N.J. – Thomas Jefferson University softball team (10-19, 4-14) began their three-game road stretch as the traveled to New Jersey to take on Caldwell University (22-20, 10-10) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Sunday. The Rams would fall in their doubleheader matchup, losing game one 5-2 and game two 12-1.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 5-2

The Cougars capitalized first on a Rams' throwing error to get the first score of the game in the first inning. Caldwell added to their lead in the third with a two-run single to center field. Jefferson looked to close the gap in the fourth inning, as the Rams' put two runs on the board.
 
Remy smith singled up the middle, giving Bridget Shields time to get to third base. Shields capitalized on an error by Caldwell, getting to homeplate in the process for the score. Sabrina Pastino hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Smith to score and have the Rams trail 3-2 after four inning. Two more runs by the Cougars made it 5-2. Jefferson would only get as far as second base to threaten another score, ultimately dropping game one to Caldwell 5-2.

Caldwell started the second game off strong with nine runs in the first inning. Jefferson was able to get to homeplate in the second as a Tori Lipka hit the ball into a fielder's choice, letting Pastino get to homeplate. The Cougars put up three more runs in the third inning, making their lead 12-1. The Rams were only able to get to first base during the final three innings, ending the game in five in favor of Caldwell.
