Softball Unable to Hold Early Lead in Second Game; Drops Doubleheader to Wilmington
PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (10-15, 4-10) competed in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader where they fell to Wilmington University of Delaware (31-12, 15-1) on Tuesday afternoon action. The Rams fell in game one 7-1. Jefferson had a 2-0 lead in the second game, but Wilmington scored four second inning runs to past the Rams 5-2.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 7-1
The Wildcats started it off with a score in the second inning, as a throwing error gave way for Wilmington to take a 1-0 lead. Wilmington added two more runs in the third inning and three in the fourth, putting a 6-0 lead over Jefferson. The Wildcats ended their scoring in the top of the fifth inning with a single through the right side as they were up 7-0.
Getting the bases loaded in the seventh inning,
Claudia Alldred nailed a single to left field, letting
Ellie Egher score and get the Rams on the board, but Wilmington held onto the 7-1 win in game one over Jefferson.

Jefferson looked to get out early in the second matchup, putting up two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Rozalee Negron hit a double to left field for
Remy Smith to get the first score in the second contest. A wild pitch helped Negron make it to homeplate and put the Rams up 2-0 over Wilmington.
The Wildcats responded in the top of the second with four runs, putting them ahead 4-2 in the matchup. Another run in the third made it 5-2 in favor of Wilmington. Jefferson looked to get in the game, but Wilmington only allowed the Rams to get as far as second base in the last five innings. Jefferson would fall in game two to the Wildcats 5-2.
