Jefferson Men's Basketball Defeats Goldey-Beacom in Close Contest 
 

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University's men's basketball held off Goldey-Beacom College in a close match up on Tuesday, December 3. A back-and-forth battle ensued, but the Rams held their ground, securing a 64-59 victory over the Lightning. 


WHAT HAPPENED 

  • Isaiah Thomas-McClain kicks off the first half, making a three-point shot within the first 20 seconds. David Robinson and Zakari Mcqueen collected five for the Lighting, giving them a small two-point lead over the Rams.  

  • Jefferson continued to trail in this first half until Farouk Kaba, and Cosby Napoleon were good for their layups giving them their first lead of the match at 14-11. Robinson can add two points, but Justin Hawkins responds by claiming three of his own keeping the Rams ahead.  

  • Zayon Marsh was able to generate some energy for Goldey-Beacom after making his shots, leaving them trailing the Rams by one point. Robinson continues to find success for the Lighting and is able to tie the match up at 21-21.  

  • Jefferson wasted no time nearing the end of the half after Sean Fullerton, Thomas-McClain, and Kaba all made their shots to regain the lead, 28-21 heading into the second.  

  • Jefferson was able to maintain their lead with Fullerton making two three-point shots, and Ashton Miller added five of his own.  The Lighting continued to battle with Robinson with Robinson on a fast break, scoring the three points needed to tie the match up at 39-39.  

  • Marsh and Kaba traded layups leaving the score even until Jeremiah Dorsey, Hawkins, and Thomas-McClain all make shots taking the lead once more at 47-41. With shots from Tre Powell and Anthony Akande the Lighting can stay in this game with the score tied again at 50-50.  

  • Dorsey adds two, but Akande continues to find success for the Lighting as the half nears the end. Thomas-McClain added five more for the Rams which gave them a small lead in the last few minutes. Dorsey can close to match out making three of his four free throws which earns the Rams a 64-59 victory over the Lighting.
