Women's Soccer Goes to Draw with Molloy
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (8-0-1) tied the game at the 52nd minute mark off a
Kiery Spatz penalty kick, putting the Rams to end the Thursday afternoon non-conference match in a 1-1 tie with Molloy University (2-4-1) at Ravenhill Field.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Rams started off strong, earning three corners in the first 18 minutes of the contest.
- After a yellow card of Jefferson, Alessandra Borsellino converted on a penalty kick to put the Lions up 1-0.
- Molloy had a yellow of their own in the first half, but maintained their lead as the Rams went into the break trailing.
- Jefferson had six shots in the first half while the Lions only produced three
- The Rams defense showed up in the second half, not allowing a single shot attempt by Molloy
- After a Lions foul in the box, Spatz capitalized with her own penalty kick, tying the match at 1-1 apiece.
- Jefferson kept the pressure on Molloy, attempting 13 shots in the second half with multiple chances right in front of the net
- Neither team were able to break the tie as the game ended 1-1 for the Rams and Lions
