Lesko's Late Goal Propels Women's Soccer Over Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA, PA – With less than five minutes left in the match,
Kyra Lesko took the ball away from a couple Griffin defenders, taking her shot and making it in the net as Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (8-0, 5-0) escapes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game with a 2-1 win over Chestnut Hill College (1-3-1, 1-2) in Tuesday night competition.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Rams started their attack early, earning three corners in the first 10 minutes of the game
- Jefferson got out ahead on the scoreboard as Kiery Spatz made her shot in the back of the net with an assist by Alexa Callahan at the 13:49 mark to put the Rams up 1-0
- Jefferson kept their attack in the period, outshooting the Griffins 11-3 in the first half
- Chestnut Hill made the most of their opportunities as a penalty kick by Abby Galazka tied the game at 1-1
- The Griffins were playing physical with the Rams, which lead to six total cards on Chestnut Hill on the night
- The game headed into the break tied
- Jefferson looked to break the tie, attempting eight shots in the second half while the Griffins had only four
