Women's Suffer First Defeat to Southern Connecticut State 


NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (9-1-1) held off 20 shots by the Owls but were unable to get one of their seven shots in the net as the Rams dropped their first match this season to Southern Connecticut State University (5-4-3) in non-conference Tuesday action. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • The Rams had two early shots and two corners within the first 10 minutes of the game, but unable to make the attempts 

  • The Owls got on the board at the 12:19 minute as they made their shot, putting Southern Connecticut State up 1-0 

  • Jefferson attempted three more shots in the first half, but trailed 1-0 at the half 

  • The Owls implemented a hockey wave in the first half and continued it in the second half, having as many as eight subs at one time 

  • The Rams had only two shots in the second half while Southern Connecticut State attempted 11 

  • Liv Riddel made a season-high 11 saves on the day
