Volleyball Gets Second Straight CACC Sweep over Caldwell
CALDWELL, N.J. - Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (8-7, 5-0) had their second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road match and they were able to get the 3-0 victory over Caldwell University (1-10, 1-4) in Saturday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Cougars would jump out ahead in the first set 6-3. Jefferson would go on an 8-2 run and be ahead 11-9. The Rams would continue to build their lead, with Caldwell catching up as the game was 22-18 before Jefferson won as they took the last three points to win set one 25-18.
The Rams would switch it around as they went ahead 8-4. Caldwell would take the lead 10-8. The Cougars would be up 14-10 before another run by the Rams, this one being an 8-1 run, to be ahead 18-15. Each team would get some points in a row to take the lead with Caldwell having a five-point run while Jefferson scored four in a row, before two more Cougar points evened the score at 22-22. Jefferson would have match point, but Caldwell would switch that around and have a 25-24 lead, looking to end the second set evening the game at 1-1. The Rams would take four of the last five points and win the second set 28-26, taking a 2-0 set lead.
Jefferson would look to end the match as they went ahead 5-2 to begin the third set. They'd continue their run and the offensive attack, going ahead 13-5. Caldwell would try to get back in the match, but Jefferson would be up 17-10, eventually finishing the set on a, 8-1 run to win 25-11 and complete the sweep to earn the CACC win.
