Four Second Half Goals Propels Women's Soccer Over Post
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer (3-2-1, 2-0-0) capitalized on four second half goals to help them win in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action against Post University (1-5-0, 0-2-0) this Friday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
Jefferson went ahead early as
Alexa Callahan scored the first of her three goals of the game in the 9
th minute when she took a pass from
Devin Sullivan in the middle, dodged the goalkeeper, and shot it in the net to put the Rams ahead 1-0. The rest of the half went all in favor of Jefferson as they took 11 of their 20 shots in the first half. Post kept it close as they had six saves to make it 1-0 going into break.
The second half was a quick turnaround as the Rams scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of play. Callahan continued her assault as they had her second goal at the 48
th minute mark.
Abby Lytle hit a corner shot that hit the goalie's hands, but slipped out into the net at the 52
nd mark.
Mia Ferrara joined the scoring barrage when they took a pass from
Anna Midock from the left side of the net and made her goal on the right side at the 56
th minute mark. Callahan then earned her hat trick when her initial shot was saved, but the ball bounced right back to her for a follow up shot at the net to make it 5-0 and give the Rams the conference victory.
