Late Goal Pushes Women's Soccer Over Wilmington; Earns Fourth Straight Win

NEWARK, DEL. – A shot by Kiery Spatz falls right near Devin Sullivan, who puts it in the goal with under four minutes to play as the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (4-2-1, 3-0-0) gets a 1-0 victory over Wilmington University (Delaware) (2-2-2, 1-1-0) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this Wednesday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED
It was a defensive battle to begin the game, as neither team found the back of the net in the first half. Wilmington won in shots 5-2 over Jefferson, but three saves by Liv Riddell kept the Rams in the game heading into the half.

The second half switched in the shot department as the Rams took 7 shots compared to the Wildcats 4. With a tie looming over the game, Spatz got the pass near the top of the box and ran into it, taking her shot right in front of the goalie who saved it. However, the ball went up in the air and to the middle of the net, where Sullivan was waiting and made her shot at the 87th minute to give Jefferson the 1-0 win on the road and net their fourth straight victory and shutout of the season.
