Men's Soccer Takes Two Second Half Goals to Win CACC Matchup against Chestnut Hil
PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University Rams (2-4, 1-1-0) scored two early goals within the first five minutes of the second half to give themselves a 2-1 win over Chestnut Hill College (2-3-1, 1-1-0) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this Wednesday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
The first half saw Chestnut Hill take the early offensive attack, outshooting Jefferson 9-7 as they were going for the back of the net in the first 25 minutes. Both
Matteo Crescente and Eran Shifris held their own, denying shots to the end of the first half.
The Rams went into attack mode the beginning of the second half, as
Sean Stackhouse got the ball and shot it right into the left side of the net to push Jefferson up 1-0.
Diego Guzman would then capitalize on his own goal, getting the ball down the field and making a wide open net to extend their lead to 2-0.
Jefferson would keep hold of the Griffins for majority of the second half, but a handball in the box set up a penalty kick for Juan Ortiz, who made his kick and cut the lead to 2-1. The Rams would hold onto the lead for the next seven minutes and secure the conference win.
