Volleyball Earns Sweep to Get First Win Over Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (1-4) had a hard fought match with the Tigers, but the Rams were able to push ahead and earn a sweep in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action against Holy Family University (2-6) on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set would see Holy Family hold momentum as they took the lead 12-6. The Rams would eventually tie it up and begin to trade the lead with the Lions. The game would go beyond the 25-point threshold and eventually be in a 30-29 spot held by Holy Family. Jefferson would get a kill from Morgan Ritche, earn a bad set from the Tigers, and have a service ace to take the first set 32-30.

The second set would replicate the begging of the first as Holy Family jumped ahead once again to get a 12-7 lead. The Rams would also do what they did in the first and make a comeback, getting within one score before the Tigers scored three of the next four points to have it 20-17. Jefferson would respond with four straight points to take the lead. Both teams would trade points, but the Rams would get the last two points to go up 2-0 with a 26-24 win in the second.

Holy Family would try once more to get ahead and earn a set to stay in the match as they went up 15-9. Jefferson would slowly cut into the lead, but the Tigers would put themselves in a 18-13 position before the Rams earned the next seven points to go up 20-18. Both teams would trade points, but Jefferson would take the last three to earn a 25-21 win in the third set and a 3-0 sweep of the series.
