PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (9-9, 4-2 CACC) split a pair of CACC contests against Goldey-Beacom (22-10, 2-2 CACC) on Wednesday afternoon.
GAME ONE – W, 1-0
Gianna DeLorenzo hurled her second complete-game shutout of the season to lead the Rams in the opener. She conceded just four hits and struck out three without walking a batter. Jefferson's lone run came in the third on a bunt single by

GAME TWO – L, 3-2
The Lightning struck in the opening inning, quickly posting two runs with a triple, RBI single, stolen base, sacrifice bunt, and RBI single in succession. Goldey-Beacom had a chance for more with runners at second and third and one out but
Emily Akelaitis got out of it and kept it a two-run game.
The Rams got one back in the bottom of the inning.
Julia Heine led off with a double and went to third on a sacrifice bunt. Akelaitis then produced an infield single that scored Heine and made it 2-1. Jefferson also had runners at second and third with one down but a pair of strikeouts ended the frame.
The Rams pushed across the tying run in the fifth. Heine smacked another leadoff double and later scored on an error. The contest seemed to be headed to extras but Goldey-Beacom's Hannah Davis crushed a solo home run over the left field fence with one gone in the seventh to give the Lightning a 3-2 advantage. Jefferson was able to get the tying run to third in the bottom of the seventh but a fly out ended the contest.
