PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (7-7) swept a doubleheader against Franklin Pierce (9-4) at Alumni Field on Sunday.
GAME ONE – W, 6-0
All six Jefferson runs came in the opening frame. The Rams loaded the bases with one out and
Gabe Silva doubled in a pair to make it 2-0.
Chris McLean scored on a wild pitch and
Justin Espinal smacked a three-run homer to up the margin to six. Jefferson did not produce a hit for the rest of the game but already had all the offense it needed as
Alec Baltz hurled a complete-game shutout. The sophomore struck out two in the win.

The Rams carried the momentum into the nightcap, scoring three times in the first.
Chris McLean recorded an RBI single and
Diego Santiago plated two with a base hit. The Ravens got on the board in the fourth with an RBI double. McLean drove in another run with a two-out single in the fifth to give the Rams a 4-1 lead.
Franklin Pierce threatened in the seventh, crushing a two-run homer to get within one. The Ravens later loaded the bases but
Anthony Pillari induced a fly out to pick up the save.
