Men's Basketball Unable to Get Ahead in Second Half, Drops CACC Opener to Chestnut Hill 


PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (3-5, 0-1) were down only by two points heading into the break, but were unable to halt a Griffin's offense that outscored them 42-33 as the Rams would drop their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Chestnut Hill College (1-7, 1-0) who would also secure their first win of the season in Saturday afternoon action. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
Jefferson would jump out ahead to an 8-2 lead to begin the game off two three-pointers from Ahmed Barba-Bey. Chestnut Hill would get back up 12-11 as Adam Angwafo would convert on a three and slam down a dunk for the Griffins. The Rams would get back into the groove of things as they'd go on a 14-4 run as Erik Timko, Bismark Nsiah, and Troy McGregor would all make at least two shots in that span. After Nsiah made it 26-19, the Griffins would score the last nine points in the quarter to give Chestnut Hill a 28-26 lead heading into the break. 

Chestnut Hill would begin the second half taking the first six points and going ahead 39-32 with Argel Pettit hitting a shot and a three in that run. A McGregor and Timko three along with Nsiah, Barba-Bey, and Antonin Kemkeng scores that would put the Rams ahead 44-41 with 11:44 to go in the game. Jefferson would extend their lead to 48-43, but Chestnut Hill would make a 16-0 run that would secure them the lead that the Griffins would hold onto to finish the game. The Rams would get within six points with 2:48 left, but Chestnut Hill would hold on and get the 70-59 victory, first in the CACC and on the season for them.

UP NEXT 
Jefferson will look to get back into the win column as they return home to the Gallagher Center, where they are undefeated in this season, as the Rams host Bloomsburg University next Saturday, December 9 at 4 p.m.
