PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (5-8-0, 4-5-0) took the lead with a Gave Paz goal in the 85
th minute that sent the Rams a 2-1 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action over Felician University (10-4-1, 7-2-0) this Monday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
The game was very defensive in the first half, with both teams being physical with one another. This would cause a foul in the box, giving Jefferson a penalty kick.
Gabe Paz would convert on his kick and give Jefferson a 1-0 lead at the 21
st minute mark. The game kept being competitive, but the score would stay the same heading into the half.
The Golden Falcons would waste little time scoring as they needed less than a minute as they scored to even the match at 1-1. Both teams would keep pushing to break the tie, making contested headers and getting into each other's space, which would draw seven yellow cards this half. Breaking into the 85
th minute,
Diego Guzman would have the ball near the left side of the field, giving Paz a chance to take a shot at goal. He would shoot the ball right past the goalie and put the Ram's up 2-1, which they would hold onto at the end of the second period.
