Men's Soccer Takes 2-0 Win in Non-Conference Action Against Queens
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (6-8-0) had a tough battle at Ravenhill Field against the Knights, but the Rams were able to move forward with a 2-0 non-conference win over Queens College of New York (7-7-2) in Wednesday action.
WHAT HAPPENED
The first half saw both teams push each other, not allowing much room for any sort of shots, with only 11 taken between both teams. The goalies would both be working in the first half, as
Juan Bahena and Austin Matthews had three saves apiece for their respective teams, heading into the half scoreless.
The second half saw urgency begin with both the Knights and Rams, beginning to get more physical and take more shots, with Queens having 13 attempts while Jefferson took 11. The Rams finally struck first with a goal, as
Tommy Harmon got passes from
TJ Hibsman and Ron Aranson to put his shot in the back of the net and give Jefferson a 1-0 lead.
Queens kept putting their pace on, but Jefferson was able to respond accordingly, not bending down the stretch. The Rams were able to get the game out of reach with a
Emilson Bitri goal, as
Mohamed Elhendawy passed it to Bitri, who's shot hit the post but went into the net, securing the final goal and a 2-0 win for Jefferson.
