Men's Soccer Falls To Shippensburg On A Pair Of Second Half Goals

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (1-2) conceded two second-half goals in suffering a 2-0 setback to Shippensburg (2-0) on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all Raiders early on as the visitors recorded five shots and a corner kick through the first 20 minutes. The Rams' offense started to pick up with a shot on goal and two corner kicks within a five-minute span. The play began to even out with each team placing a shot on target over the last 15 minutes but the game remained scoreless at halftime.

In the second period, Shippensburg had all of the chances in the opening 15 minutes and the effort paid off with a goal in the 60th minute. A Raiders' player poked the ball away from the Jefferson defense and the loose ball was blasted into the upper right corner for a 1-0 Shippensburg advantage.

The Rams came back with pressure, booting five shots in just six minutes. However, one rang off the left post and the two that were on target were stopped by the Raiders' goalkeeper. Shippensburg took a commanding 2-0 lead in the 75th minute, executing a give and go and finding the middle of the cage. Jefferson earned a pair of corner kicks the rest of the way but could not get off a shot.
