HILLBURN, N.Y. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (10-5, 8-1 CACC) locked up a first-round bye in the CACC Tournament with a 16-10 victory at Dominican (N.Y.) in the regular season finale on Saturday night.
GAMEPLAY
The Chargers got out to a 2-1 lead with 10:23 left in the opening quarter. The Rams then went off for seven straight goals to go ahead 8-2 with 4:14 to go in the second period.
Erin Avanzato sparked Jefferson with four goals during the run. The Rams took a 9-3 advantage into halftime.
In the third, Jefferson kept Dominican from going on a run to get back in the game as the two squads each tallied two goals in the frame. The Rams entered the fourth with an 11-5 lead.
Madison Caffrey put Jefferson ahead by seven (12-5) before the Chargers netted four of the next five to cut the deficit to four (13-9) with 3:42 to play. However, the Rams put the game away with three of the last four markers.
