Women's Lacrosse Season Ends With CACC Semifinals Loss To Dominican

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Third-seeded Dominican (N.Y.) used a 5-2 second quarter to take the lead and pulled away with a 4-0 run in the third to defeat the second-seeded Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament on Friday.
 
The Chargers advance to the CACC title game on Saturday, April 30 where they will meet top-seeded Georgian Court. The Rams end the year with a 10-6 record.
 
GAMEPLAY
The offense was at a premium in the opening quarter with each squad managing just two goals. Dominican tallied the first two in the second to go ahead 4-2. Jefferson netted two of the next three to get within one (5-4) with 5:56 to play in the half. The Chargers hit the back of the net twice in the final five-plus minutes to take a 7-4 advantage into the break.
 
Dominican continued the momentum into the second half, recording the first goal of the third quarter to increase the margin to four (8-4). Ellie Lefton and Erin Campbell scored for the Rams to cut the deficit to two (8-6) with 10:08 on the clock. The Chargers then dominated the rest of the frame, netting four in a row to take a commanding 12-6 lead into the fourth. Jefferson registered just two shots over the last 10 minutes of the period and both were stopped by the Dominican goalkeeper.
 
The Rams rallied in the fourth, outscoring their opponent 5-1 to get within two (13-11) with 1:09 to play. However, the Chargers won the final draw and were able to run out the clock.
