CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (7-3-1) shut out Molloy (8-3-2), 2-0, in a non-conference game on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It took more than 10 minutes for the first offensive chance of the game but the Rams then dominated play for an eight-minute span, recording three shots and five corner kicks.
Devin Sullivan's shot in the 15
th minute was headed towards the upper right corner but was punched away by the goalkeeper.
After a Lions' shot was off target, Jefferson came back with two more shots and scored the first goal of the afternoon.
Nikki Dedes got her head on a ball in the air in the offensive midfield and deflected it towards the goal. Sullivan anticipated the play and got ahead of the defense, going one-on-one with the goalie, and finding the lower left corner for a 1-0 lead in the 28
th minute. It was the final shot by either team in the half.
The Rams continued their strong play in the second half, with Sullivan putting a shot on target less than one minute into the period. Jefferson did not allow a shot for over 25 minutes and the Rams were able to pot an insurance goal in that time.
Laural Erick dribbled down the right side and sent a cross to Dedes in the middle. Dedes did not miss and put Jefferson ahead by two in the 61
st minute. Molloy generated just one shot on goal the rest of the way.
