Volleyball Makes Quick Work of Georgian Court, Clinches Home Playoff Match

PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (18-6, 12-2 CACC) increased its win streak to six with a 3-0 sweep of Georgian Court (9-17, 5-9 CACC) at the Gallagher Center on Thursday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams trailed 4-2 in the opening set before taking over with a 6-1 run. However, with Jefferson ahead 9-6, the Lions rallied for six of the next seven points to go in front 12-10. With GCU holding a 14-12 advantage, the Rams pulled away for good with 11 straight points and went on to win the set 25-16.
 
The Lions got out to a 4-0 lead in the second. Georgian Court was ahead 9-7 before Jefferson gained steam again, this time producing a 10-2 surge, to take a 17-11 advantage. GCU was only able to get within three the rest of the way and the Rams took the set 25-18.
 
In the third, Jefferson held a narrow 7-6 lead before creating distance with five points in a row. The Lions closed the gap to three (16-13) but the Rams finished the set with nine of the last 11 to clinch the match with a 25-15 victory.

CACC PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Rams have secured a top-two finish in the CACC South Division, which gives Jefferson a home match for the quarterfinals on Monday, November 7th. The Rams are currently tied with Holy Family for first place with three matches remaining in the regular season. Jefferson could wind up in a tie with multiple teams but has the necessary tiebreakers in hand to ensure one of the top two spots.
