PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (16-6, 10-2 CACC) dealt Holy Family (13-10, 11-1 CACC) its first conference loss of the season with a 3-0 sweep of the Tigers on Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams trailed 10-7 in the opening set before embarking on a 10-2 run to take a 17-12 lead. Jefferson had six kills and one service ace during the stretch. Holy Family got within three (19-16) but the Rams scored six of the last seven points to take the set 25-17.
 
Jefferson carried the momentum into the second frame, getting out to a 5-0 advantage. With the score 7-3, the Rams tallied six in a row to up the margin to 10 (13-3). The Tigers were only able to cut the deficit to seven and Jefferson cruised to a 25-15 win.
 
In the third, the Rams were behind 2-1 but surged forward with a 10-3 rally. Holy Family was within four (12-8) when Jefferson pulled away with nine of the next 12 points to make it 21-11. The Rams went on to clinch the match with a 25-14 victory.
