PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (7-3, 3-0 CACC) had a statement win on Saturday evening, dominating #13/10 Dominican (N.Y.), 87-72, at the Gallagher Center.
GAMEPLAY
The Chargers got out to a 7-4 lead in the early going but the Rams took over with a massive 21-3 run that spanned just three-and-a-half minutes.
Erik Timko led the surge with 14 points, including four makes from beyond the arc. With the score 27-14, Jefferson continued to pull away from the visitors, ripping off 10 straight points to up the margin to 23 (37-14) with 8:22 on the clock. The Rams maintained a comfortable advantage and were up 20 (51-31) at the half.
Jefferson scored the first four points of the second stanza for its largest lead of the game at 24 (55-31). The Chargers then got back into it with a 9-0 run to make it a 15-point game (55-40) with 14:49 to play. The score was 57-42 when the Rams responded with 13 of the next 17 to get it back to a 24-point cushion (70-46).
Deondre Bourne led the charge with 11 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Jefferson cruised the rest of the way to the upset victory.
