PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University softball team split a CACC doubleheader with visiting USciences on Thursday. The Rams have a 6-4 record.

GAME ONE - L, 8-3
The Devils pushed a run across in the opening frame on a groundout. The Rams countered in the bottom half, tying the score on a RBI single by
Emily Akelaitis. USciences jumped in front again with a three-run second, benefitting from a two-run double and scoring on an error.

The score remained 4-1 until the fifth when the Devils increased their lead with a run-scoring double. They added three more in the seventh on a fielder's choice and a two-run base hit to make it 8-1. Akelaitis continued her hot streak at the plate with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning for the final runs.

The Rams were the team to strike early in this one, going off for six runs in the first.
Winnai Hoyt led off the frame with a single and later scored on an error.
Ellie Egher doubled in a run and
Julia Heine followed with a RBI single.
Sage Bolonski plated Heine with a base hit then
Cayla Kalani doubled in a pair for a 6-0 advantage.

USciences got a run back on an error in the second. Jefferson produced two more runs in the bottom half.
Sam Gomez hit a double and
Emily Akelaitis came home. Gomez later scored on an error to make it 8-1.

The Devils started to mount a comeback in the fifth, pushing across four runs to get to within three (8-5). Kalani drove in another run with a base hit in the sixth to make the score 9-5. USciences plated two in the seventh on an error and a sacrifice fly. With the score 9-7 and the tying run in scoring position,
Gianna DeLorenzo was able to induce a fly out to secure the victory.
