LITTLE FERRY, N.J. - The Thomas Jefferson University softball team split a pair of CACC games at Bloomfield on Monday. The Rams hold a 14-6 record for the season.
 
GAME ONE - W, 8-0 (5 inn.)
Jefferson struck quickly in the first with a pair of runs. Emily Akelaitis knocked in one on a fielder's choice and Ali Murphy scored on an error. The Rams made it 3-0 in the second on an RBI single by Akelaitis.
 
In the third, Victoria Juckniewitz drove in two runs with a double to left for a 5-0 advantage. Jefferson tallied three in the fifth. Akelaitis hit a two-run single and Sam Gomez plated one on a groundout. Akelaitis retired the Bears in the bottom half to secure the shutout, ending the game early due to the eight-run rule.

GAME TWO - L, 7-6
The Rams opened a three-run lead in the opening frame. Emily Akelaitis singled in a run and Sam Gomez followed with an RBI triple. Emily Kuberski also drove in a run with a base hit. Akelaitis added another RBI to her total with a single in the second, making it 4-0. The advantage went to five on an error in the third.
 
Bloomfield had just one runner reach second base through the first four innings but broke through in the fifth, exploding for six runs and the lead. The Bears pounded out seven hits in the frame. Jefferson recovered to tie the score in the sixth on a two-out RBI double by Winnai Hoyt.
 
In the bottom of the seventh, Bloomfield recorded a one-out walk. The runner moved to second on a groundout. After a hit by pitch, an error allowed the runner at second to come around and score for the walk-off victory.
