Softball Defeated Twice By Georgian Court

PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Georgian Court on Wednesday. The setbacks brought the Rams' season record to 14-8.
 
GAME ONE – L, 6-2
Jefferson opened the scoring with two runs in the first, both coming across on a double by Sam Gomez. The Lions countered with three runs in the second to take the lead. They benefitted from an RBI single followed by a two-run base hit.
 
GCU increased their lead to two (4-2) in the third on an RBI double. It became 5-2 in the fourth after a bunt single scored a run. The final run was in the seventh on a home run. The Rams put two runners on in their final at-bat but could not score.

GAME TWO – L, 8-0 (5 inn.)
GCU scored in the opening frame on a sacrifice fly. The Lions added four in the third on an RBI double, a sac fly, an error, and a solo home run. A bases-clearing double in the fourth made the score 8-0. Victoria Juckniewitz started the Jefferson half of the first with a single and the Rams could not produce another baserunner as the contest ended early due to the eight-run rule.
