LYNDHURST, N.J. – Zach Austin recorded a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and the Thomas Jefferson University baseball team held on for a 5-4 extra-inning victory in game two to earn a doubleheader split with host Felician on Saturday.
The Rams have a 5-2 record and they are 2-1 in the CACC. The Golden Falcons picked up the win in the opening contest, 3-1.
GAME ONE – L, 3-1
Jefferson posted the first run of the day in the second inning. Austin led off with a single and later scored on a groundout by
Ryan Coyle. The score remained 1-0 until the fifth, when Felician tallied three runs on an error and a two-run homer to take the lead. All three runs were unearned. The Rams put the tying run on in the seventh with two outs but a pop up ended the game.

GAME TWO – W, 5-4 (8 inn.)
The Golden Falcons took the early advantage with a four-run second. They used an RBI double and a three-run homer to go in front. Jefferson pushed a run across in the fourth when Austin scored on Coyle's groundout.
The Rams evened the score in the sixth. The first four Jefferson batters reached base and
Arturo Figueroa touched the plate on a walk by
Ryan Sawyer. After a double play,
Richard Joa came through with a clutch, two-out, two-run double to center to tie the game at four.
The battle went to extra innings and in the first extra frame, Austin plated Figueroa with a sac fly to right field to give the Rams a 5-4 edge.
Matt Bukavich retired Felician in order in the bottom of the eighth to finish off three perfect innings in relief and seal the win.
