Volleyball Overpowers Felician To Reach CACC Semifinals

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (24-4) earned its first trip to the CACC semifinals since 2017 with a 3-0 victory at Felician in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday evening.
 
The Rams are the third seed in the South Division while the Golden Falcons were the North Division's second seed. Jefferson advances to play the South's top seed Holy Family in the semifinals on Saturday, November 20 at 1 p.m. The remainder of the conference tournament will be played at Georgian Court.
 
GAMEPLAY
The Rams held a 12-11 lead in the first set. They increased the margin to seven (19-12) with a 7-1 run. Felician closed to within three (21-18) but Jefferson scored four of the last five to win the frame 25-19.
 
The Golden Falcons got out to a 4-2 advantage in the second. However, the Rams responded with four straight to go in front 6-4. Felician came back to even the score at 13 and eventually took the lead, 17-16. Jefferson answered with four in a row to go back ahead and went on to claim the stanza 25-21.
 
The host team started the third set with four consecutive points. Not to be outdone, the Rams rallied for five points to capture the lead. Jefferson clung to a 10-8 edge before upping the advantage to eight (16-8) with a 6-0 surge. The Golden Falcons only came within seven the rest of the way as the Rams cruised to a 25-16 decision to clinch the match.
