PHILADELPHIA - Holy Family scored on a penalty kick with 8:53 left in regulation as the host Tigers defeated the Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (2-6-2, 1-5-1 CACC), 1-0, on Wednesday.

HFU had a flurry of chances early in the contest, recording six shots in a five-minute span. The stretch began a host of opportunities for each squad, as they combined for 17 shots during the period. Nevertheless, the teams remained scoreless into the break.

The Tiger defense locked down in the second, not allowing the Rams to get off a shot over the first 40 minutes. Holy Family capitalized on a Jefferson foul in the box in the 82
nd minute, converting the penalty kick for the lone goal of the afternoon. The Rams registered three shots in the final minutes as they looked for the equalizer, including one that rang off the crossbar, but came up just short.
