Lucky 13! Men's Basketball Continues Hot Streak With Victory At Concordia (N.Y.)

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's basketball team (18-6, 13-2 CACC) earned their 13th win in a row with an 86-77 decision at Concordia (N.Y.) (9-15, 6-9 CACC) on Saturday afternoon to open a three-game road trip.

GAMEPLAY
It was a tight game as neither team led by double digits until the final seconds. The two squads were tied at 12 at the 11:58 mark of the first half. The Clippers went ahead on a three-pointer and continued to hold the advantage for several minutes, with their largest lead coming at 6:55 (24-16). Down six with 3:23 on the clock, the Rams fought back with an 11-0 run to take a 35-30 lead. Freshman Deondre Bourne led the charge with nine of the 11 points. Jefferson was ahead 35-32 at the break.

In the second half, Concordia came back to take the lead, 45-44 at 15:15. There were several lead changes over the next 10 minutes until the Clippers were in front, 66-64 with 5:17 to play. The Rams then went on an 8-4 run to go ahead 76-70 with 2:09 remaining. Jefferson forced a pair of turnovers and was 10-for-12 on free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Bourne ended with a season-high 33 points and seven rebounds. He shot 9-for-16, including 7-for-9 from beyond the arc.
- Junior Kylan Guerra notched 19 points, six assists and five boards.
- Junior DeVaughn Mallory picked up a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds while also dishing five assists.
- Junior Josh Bradanese contributed with 14 points, including four threes.

AS A TEAM
- The Rams shot 44.8% (26-for-58) from the floor, 59.1% (13-for-22) from three-point range and 87.5% (21-for-24) from the line.
- Jefferson outrebounded Concordia, 42-33.

NOTES
- Bourne joined teammate Alexander Gorton as the only two Rams to go over 30 points in a game this season. Gorton scored 32 at Felician on January 5.
- The victory was the 1,092nd of head coach Herb Magee's career.

NEXT UP
Jefferson heads to Georgian Court to take on the Lions on Tuesday, February 19 at 8 p.m. The Rams topped GCU, 76-55 at home on January 16. They also took last year's meeting in Lakewood, 69-60.
