Men's soccer plays to scoreless draw with Caldwell

CALDWELL, N.J. – Keeper Ben Sauer (Bel Air, Md./Perry Hall Christian) stopped a career-high eight shots as the Philadelphia University men's soccer team recorded a scoreless draw against Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday afternoon on Caldwell field.

Philadelphia is now 3-3-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the CACC, while Caldwell is now 0-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 against the conference.

Sauer was kept busy during regulation and the two overtime sessions. He made three saves in the first half, two more in the second, one in the final overtime session, and two during the second OT.

Philadelphia owned a 12-11 shot advantage. Four of the Rams' shots were on target, and were all stopped by the Cougars' Michael Hartmann.

Ryan Schroy (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and Cesar Romero (Mamaroneck, N.Y./ Mamaroneck) each put a shot on target in the first half, while Dominic Rodriguez (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) and James Ruff (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) did so in the second half.

Philadelphia heads to LIU Post for a non-conference clash on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.
