Box Score DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Ryan McIntyre's (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) 71st-minute goal gave the Philadelphia University men's soccer team a 2-1 non-conference victory over host Mercy on Mavericks Field Wednesday afternoon.
With the victory, Philadelphia evens its overall record at 3-3-1. The Mavericks dip to 1-5.
McIntyre broke the 1-1 deadlock with his first goal of the 2014 season as he curled a long shot inside the left post after receiving a pass from Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite d'Youville).
After a scoreless first half, Dominic Rodriguez (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) opened the scoring with breakaway goal with 57:35. Chris Kulczytzky (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) played a long ball over the Mavericks' backline to spring Rodriguez for his team-leading third goal of the year.
The lead didn't last long as Mercy's Danny Leon responded with the equalizing goal just 15 seconds after Philadelphia took the lead.
Keeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) made two saves to notch his second win of the year. Luis Lizarzaburu stopped five shots in a losing effort for Mercy.
The Rams owned a 14-7 advantage in shot attempts.
Philadelphia heads to Bloomfield for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
