Chagonda scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season with a rocket from the top of the box after receiving a feed from the left wing by Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite D'Youville). James Jackson was able to get a piece of the shot, but not enough to deny the Rams the win.
After a tight, scoreless opening half, Philadelphia used a 62nd minute free kick to break the deadlock. From about 35 yards away, Armando Canela (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) loft the ball into the box and found the head of Ishmaiah Calwrie (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown). Calwrie headed the ball through a crowd and into the right set of the net for his sixth goal this year.
Dominic Pernice scored his first goal of the season to tie the match at one at the 79:27 mark. Pernice's left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area crossed the goalmouth and found the upper right corner of the net. Michael Hester played the ball back to an open Pernice to record an assist.
Philadelphia keeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) improved to 11-2-1 after making one save. Jackson (8-7-1) stopped four shots for the Griffins.
The Rams outshot the Griffins 13-7.
