PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to visiting Goldey-Beacom in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Tuesday afternoon on the Abraham Salaman Courts.
The Rams are now 4-3 overall and 2-2 against the CACC. Goldey-Beacom remains perfect at 4-0, 3-0 in conference play.
Freshman Emily Chung (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) picked up the Rams' point with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Maria Martinez in the No. 3 singles match.
Senior Sayre Limburg (New London, N.H./Proctor Academy) nearly recorded a second Philadelphia point as she went to a tiebreak with Nina Sengl in No. 5 singles action. Limburg won the first set by a 6-4 score, but Sengl came back to win the second set 6-1 and the tiebreak 10-1.
Philadelphia looks to get back on the winning track when it travels to Gwynedd Mercy for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
