PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 29, 2026) – Keyed by its top two players, Thomas Jefferson University women's tennis continued its strong start to the season on Tuesday afternoon, earning a 6-1 victory over Wilmington University at the Abraham J. Salaman '58 Tennis Courts.
The Rams had something to prove in their rematch with Wilmington after defeating the Wildcats, 4-3, in Delaware last week.
Wilmington opened doubles play with a win at the third spot, but Jefferson responded at second doubles as freshman Kalomoira Ralli (Athens, Greece / Grand Valley State University) and sophomore Madina Omarova (Astana, Kazakhstan / Flagman Physics-Technical School) bested their opponents, 6-2. The doubles point came down to the top flight, where sophomore Anouk Oderkerk (Stenungsund, Sweden / Nösnäsgymnaseit) and junior Alycia Veroux (Ehlange-Sur-Mess, Luxembourg / CNED) prevailed 7-2 in a tiebreaker the Wildcats' top doubles pairing. The doubles point, while pivotal for momentum, would not be completely necessary for outright victory, however, given the Rams' singles dominance to come.
Oderkerk quickly added to the Jefferson lead at first singles, defeating the Wildcats' singles ace, 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Isabella Lazzerini (Milan, Italy / Southern Arkansas University) followed with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory against Oliveira at fifth singles. Ralli next clinched another point for the Rams at third singles, dispatching her opponents 6-2, 6-3, before Omarova posted the same score at fourth singles against Marry.
Veroux would finally put the exclamation point on Jefferson's five-match singles winning streak with a 7-5, 6-2 decision at the second spot.
Head Coach Fred Perrin and the Rams won't have to wait long to try for seven wins in eight matches. They are set to host St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
