Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. – Junior midfielder Victor Chagonda's (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) first goal of the 2013 season would be all the Philadelphia University men's soccer team would need as it defeated host Caldwell, 1-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Saturday afternoon on Caldwell Field.
With the victory, Philadelphia improves its overall record to 4-2 and its CACC mark to 2-1. Caldwell is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in CACC play.
Chagonda's tally came at the 54:22 mark as he was able to take advantage of a rebound on a shot taken by junior midfielder Ryan McIntyre (Woodbury, N.J./Pitman) and beat Caldwell keeper Michael Hartmann.
Junior goalkeeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) made the goal stand up as he was called upon to make one save, which came on a corner kick with 11:30 left in the contest.
Hartmann finished with six saves, four in the second half, for the Cougars.
The Rams owned a 13-11 shot edge and a 7-2 corner kick advantage.
Philadelphia now heads to Long Island for a showdown with No. 2 LIU Post on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m.
