Men's soccer falls to West Chester, 3-2

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – A late rally by the Philadelphia University men's soccer team came up just short at the Rams were defeated by host West Chester, 3-2, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon on Rockville Field.

West Chester (9-3-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three first-half goals.

Miguel Ross opened the scoring in the 21st minute off of a feed from Dan Venuto. Alex Badulak's unassisted marker in the 29th minute doubled the West Chester to 2-0. John Gabel netted the Golden Rams' third goal came during the 37th minute.

Sophomore forward Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite d'Youville) scored his third goal of the year in the 62 minute to help Philadelphia (9-5-1) close the gap to 3-1. Midfielder Domenic Colletti (Clarksburg, N.J./Allentown) assisted on the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) came up big by denying Conor Malarney on a 71st-minute penalty kick to keep the Rams within two.

Sophomore defender Chris Kulcyztzky (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock N.) scored a 90th-minute goal, his first of the year, on a rebound from a shot by freshman midfielder Armando Canela (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough).

The Rams weren't able to get off another shot in the final 57 seconds to try and force overtime.

Attamante and West Chester's Phil Horan each made three saves.

The Rams owned a 15-8 shot advantage, 10-2 in the second half.

Philadelphia travels to Felician for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
