Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's volleyball team reached the 20-win mark for the first time since 2009 after defeating Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Felician, 3-0, in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon in Job Gym.
The Rams—who won the match with scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-16—end the regular season with an overall record of 20-8 and a conference record of 14-5. This is the fifth time that Philadelphia has won 20 or more matches under head coach Mark Magarity, and the first since the 2009 team posted a 32-6 record.
Philadelphia earned the southern division second seed in the CACC Championship Tournament and will host Nyack, the third seed from the north, in the opening round on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The Rams defeated the Warriors, 3-1, on Oct. 13 in Nyack during the regular season. This is the second year in a row that the two teams will meet in the first round of the tournament.
Freshman middle hitter Chelsea Hughes (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) was Philadelphia's offensive leader with a match-high eight kills and a .700 hitting percentage (eight kills-one error-10 attempts). She added three solo blocks.
Senior outside hitter Danielle Carney (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks), junior outside hitter Brittany Olson (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and freshman outside hitter Allison Manley (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles E.) all recorded six kills. Manley also had a team-high eight digs, and Olson contributed four service aces and seven digs.
Freshman setter Nina Morvin (Willow Grove, Pa./Saint Basil's) tallied 19 assists and three service aces, while junior setter Heather Martin (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) had 15 assists.
Philadelphia hit .333 (36-8-84) in the victory, while holding Felician (1-24, 1-18 CACC) to a percentage of .024 (21-19-85).
The Golden Falcons got seven kill each from Jenna Matesic and Olivia Emerson. Susan McKeever had 10 assists. Matesic and McKeever both had eight digs.
