Lady Rams pick up 6-3 CACC win at University of the Sciences

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team defeated the University of the Sciences, 6-3, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on the McNeil Courts Friday afternoon.

Philadelphia improves to 8-5 overall and 3-4 in the CACC. The Devils are now 1-8 overall and 1-6 against the conference.

The Lady Rams opened the match by going 3-0 in doubles play. The No. 1 team of Isabella Espinosa and Olivia Amato, and the No. 3 tandem of Sylvia Bennicelli and Elizabeth Verbits won its respective matches by an 8-5 score. Magill Kurts and Sayre Limburg took the No. 2 match 8-1.

Kurts earned the Lady Rams' fourth point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 4 singles flight over Michelle Adamczyk. In the No. 1 match, Espinosa defeated Victoria Quang 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the win.

Amato was also a winner after downing Desiree Vassalotti 8-3 in the No. 3 match.

The Lady Rams return home on Sunday, Oct. 7 to face Caldwell at 11 a.m. and Dowling at 1:30 p.m.
