Video Highlights

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University men's tennis (10-5, 1-1 CACC) nabs 5-4 win while women (8-7, 4-4 CACC) take 7-2 over Kutztown at Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Center Sunday.

The men's team up against Kutztown, an Atlantic region representative in the NCAA DII Men's Tennis Sweet 16, jumped out to an early lead with dominating doubles performances at three doubles and a pull away victory at one doubles. Leading the way for the Rams today was the two doubles tandem of sophomore Kyle Burke and junior Ryan Christopher winning doubles easily and both coming up with solid victories in singles. Juniors Eric Guerrero and Adrian Torroella-Cruz both dropped their first sets of their matches, but fought back to capture the victory for the Rams. Torroella-Cruz clinched the match in a thrilling third set, taking the tiebreak after being down two match points.

Not only fighting the windy, cold conditions, the women's team took to the court against Kutztown for a second time this season with a statement 7-2 victory. The, at the time short-handed, Lady Rams took out the first match this year by a 5-4 score. This time around, freshman standout Sayre Limburg showed her maturity and focus to pull out a tight three set victory in singles and spurred on a superb doubles performance with new partner rookie Elizabeth Verbits. Joining Limburg as double winners on the day were junior Brittany Villa and freshman Isabella Espinosa, who delivered solid results for the Lady Rams on the day.
