Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
men's soccer team (3-1, 2-0 CACC) fought through the rain to a 2-1
win against the Holy Family University Tigers (2-2-1, 0-2 CACC) on
Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field. PhilaU senior defender
Wojciech
Sliwinski knocked in the game-winner in
57th minute.
The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead as Marc Fisher scored in the
38th minute and the Tigers stayed atop going into
halftime. Yet, the second half was all Rams, as junior
midfielder Ryan
Purnell took the ball to the net against the HFU
keeper, scoring at 52:13 assisted by senior defender Greig
Edwards.
The game-winner also came in the second half, as sophomore
midfielder Sean
Crossland hit a corner that Sliwinski put into the
goal.
PhilaU sophomore goalie Jason
Barber got the win for the Rams, playing all 90
minutes with two saves, while HFU's Mark Ferretti made six stops
for the Tigers.
The Rams return to the pitch at home on Saturday (9/18) vs.
Caldwell College at 2:30 p.m.
