Box Score Philadelphia, PA- Perfect in 2010 is how the
regular season ended for the Philadelphia University men's
basketball team (24-6, 16-1 CACC) in a 78-57 knockout of the Nyack
College Warriors (13-16, 8-10 CACC) for Senior Day 2010 at the
Gallagher Athletic Center. The team has not lost in the New
Year, winning 15 straight games thus far.
Senior guard Marcus Lemon (Alexandria, VA/ T.C.
Williams) had a career-high 27 points- leading all scorers, along
with seven rebounds and three steals. All five PhilaU
starters totaled double-digits when the dust cleared.
Lemon keyed a 9-2 Ram start, building up to 28-11 at 8:25.
PhilaU shot 41% from field goal range on the day, adding 82%
free-throw shooting.
The Warriors scratched back to within 10 (38-28) on two good
James Oyamo free-throws, but PhilaU freshman guard Jim
Connolly (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton) knocked down a
bucket as time ran out to keep the home squad up 40-28 at the
break. Oyamo led the Warriors with 16 points, seven boards
while Connolly notched 12 points and three rebounds for the day.
Lemon hit one of his five treys at 7:55 to give the Rams their
largest lead of the day, 65-40 and senior guard Russell
Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) hit another
three-ball just a minute later. Frederick had 10 points for
the game, while senior forward Malcolm Ingram
(Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) managed 11 points, six boards and
a steal.
The loss ends Nyack's season as the Rams prepare for the CACC
Quarterfinals, to be held on Monday (3/1) at the Gallagher Athletic
Center at 7:00 p.m.
