Rams (2-2, 2-0 CACC) burst onto the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) scene with a 62-51 victory on the road at
Chestnut Hill College (1-1, 0-1 CACC) on Wednesday evening.
Senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/
Calvert Hall) led all scorers with 23 points, going 4-6 from beyond
the arc.
The Rams outshot the Griffs 41%-35% on the floor, and held the
three-point advantage 40%-25%.
PhilaU led for most of the first half, until CHC took the
advantage with 50 seconds to go- hitting a trey from Mark DiRugeris
to hold on for a 25-21 halftime tally.
Frederick recaptured the PhilaU advantage at 13:59 in the second
half on a three, and dominant play by senior forward
Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep)
with 16 points and nine boards on the night sealed the win for the
Rams. PhilaU held their largest lead of the game (13) with 29
seconds left at 62-49.
CHC's high-scorer for the night was Dan Comas with 14 points and
13 rebounds.
The Rams hit the wood again this Saturday (11/21) vs. Merrimack
at 1:30 p.m., where a pre-game ceremony in the Gallagher Athletic
Center right before tip-off will honor Coach Herb
Magee for 50 years of service to the University.
