Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University volleyball
team (24-4, 12-2 CACC) secured a big conference win in a 3-0 rout
of Caldwell College (11-11, 9-3 CACC) on Monday evening.
Freshman outside hitter Danielle Carney (Thousand
Oaks, CA/ Thousand Oaks) tallied eight kills, nine digs and one
block assist on the night.
Set scores were: 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20.
The story of the night was a streaky Lady Ram squad, who went on
a 10-2 run in the second set before giving up an 8-0 run in the
middle of the third set to the Cougars.
PhilaU senior Nicole Berkstresser (Bridgewater,
NJ/ Raritan-Bridgewater) totaled eight kills on the night, while
junior setter Lauren Hoover (New Baltimore, MI/
Anchor Bay) added 13 sets, five service aces and five digs.
Senior defensive specialists Cindy Adams
(Fleetwood, PA/ Fleetwood) and Natalie Amodei
(West Chester, PA/ Bishop Shanahan) each had a team-high 19 digs
for the Lady Rams.
Caldwell was led by nine kills and 14 digs from Susan McDonough.
PhilaU has the rest of the week off before heading to Bloomfield
on Saturday (10/24) for a 12:00 p.m. tri-match that includes
Southern Connecticut State University.
