Philadelphia, PA- Looking for a win in their
2008 home debut, the Philadelphia University men's soccer team
(1-1-2) tied West Chester University 0-0 in double overtime.
Senior goalie Charles Custer (Cinnaminson, NJ/
Cinnaminson) had 12 saves in 110 minutes of action for the
Rams.
Both teams had their chances, and the Rams had a close call
early in the second overtime when West Chester drove a shot into
the cross bar that just missed. Sophomore midfielder
Mike Mousaw (Marmora, NJ/ Ocean City) led the Rams
with seven shots, while junior Svetozar Gladic
(Novi Sad, Serbia) took four.
After 110 minutes, neither team could break the stalemate and
the game ended after the second overtime in a 0-0 tie.
The Rams outshot West Chester 21-18. WCU goalies Justin
Johnson and Peter Weiss combined for 14 saves for the Golden
Rams.
The Rams host Concordia College (NY) on Friday, September
12th at 4:30 p.m.
